What a Smile

A friend called me up one day: “Sierra! I know this very dear girl that is graduating this year! I want to pay for her senior pictures to be taken as a gift. She is such an amazing young lady with a heart of gold, but she is really, really shy…. I know you will be able to get her to be comfortable and capture her beautiful smile!”

What a compliment! I think a photographer’s greatest challange is getting their clients to feel comfortable and look natural for the camera. I often compare myself with the dentist: Everyone hates to see me but I try to bring out your beautiful smile! 🙂

And take a look at this amazing smile! Lucky for me, she made my job easy. As promised, her heart is as beautiful as her smile.

Downtown Olympia

I am so lucky to live in an area where I have so many great scenic photo opportunities. Mix that with having such a lovely soon-to-be grad and I’m one happy photographer! We had rain forecasted for the day before and the day after our planned shoot: anyone who knows Western Washington is aware that planning with the weather forecast is a gamble. Lucky for us the clouds parted just long enough for us to capture some great memories!

I had the pleasure of capturing these two friends over the weekend. I’ll admit that they were only here because their mom’s wanted some senior photos taken, any they were not thrilled to be having their photos taken, to say the least. I decided to go to the park and let them “play” for a while…. after about half an hour they started getting in the groove and I think they were actually enjoying themselves! We ended up with quite a few amazing shots, with these being a few of my favorites:

Today I had the pleasure of taking photos for a long known family at their son’s graduation. Crazy how the time flies… I was there the day he was born, and now he’s all grown up! This was like my second family growing up! Congratulations Mark!!
